The Games We Love
Love is in the game-playing air this month. The team at AreYouGame is passionate about the games we sell and produce and we sure do love talking about them. You could say our love language is the sound of breaking the cellophane around a brand new board game, the crisp feel of unused cards being shuffled, and the unmistakable feeling of sharing a new game with the ones you love. Now that isn’t something you can find in a box of chocolates or in a greeting card.
This month we wanted to share with you some of our personal favorite games and why we love them. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get some sweet gift ideas along the way!
Doug C. | Pandemic
I love to play Pandemic. This is the first cooperative style game that I have played and it’s really fun to have everyone working together to win the game.
ABOUT THE GAME: As skilled members of a disease-fighting team, you must keep four deadly diseases at bay while discovering their cures. You and your teammates will travel across the globe, treating infections while finding resources for cures. You must work as a team to succeed. Pandemic is a cooperative game, where all players win or lose together. The clock is ticking as outbreaks and epidemics fuel the spreading plagues. Can you find all four cures in time? The fate of humanity is in your hands!
Ann H. | Drinkopoly
I have loved playing this game with my college-aged nieces and nephews and being able to spend quality time together laughing, joking, and creating fun new memories! This is a game that is always brought out when the family is together.
ABOUT THE GAME: The blurriest game ever, Drinkopoly is a social and interactive board game designed to provide hours of fun, laughs, and mischief. It can be played at home, parties, or outings. Don't waste time thinking about party game ideas, just bring out the world's most popular drinking game to break the ice and have an (un)forgettable experience with your friends.
Andrea A. | Judge Your Friends
This is a super fun way to find out more about your friends (or family) in an engaging, guessing game where everyone gets a turn at being the Judge! By the end, you’ll be laughing out loud and awaiting the next round of questioning while hoping the rounds keep rolling! Great for game night and maybe paired with a few drinks. After all, “in vino vertas!”
ABOUT THE GAME: Play Judge Your Friends, the game where it's OK to be a little judgy about your friends. Be the player with the most points at the end of the game to win. The fast-paced exciting party game will have everyone laughing out loud and over-sharing way too much personal information. You'll be on the edge of your seat listening to the scenarios and trying to guess who is guilty or not. Think you know your friends? Think again!
Meghan R. | Wingspan
The quality and design of Wingspan is incredible! We are constantly blown away by the attention to detail not only in the overall game play but in the artwork and game components themselves. This is a challenging but fun game to play that transports you into a wonderfully winged world. We cannot wait to add the expansion packs to our current game!
ABOUT THE GAME: You are bird enthusiasts - researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors - seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your aviary. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth: Gain food tokens via custom dice in a birdfeeder dice tower; Lay eggs using egg miniatures in a variety of colors; Draw from hundreds of unique bird cards and play them.
Ben L. | Kingdomino
It's tight, fun, fast, combines multiple engaging mechanics in a simple yet satisfying way, and does a good job balancing both short and long-term strategic planning. The theme and artwork are both super cute, and the components are also well made.
ABOUT THE GAME: Kingdomino is a 2 to 4 player strategy game that plays like dominoes with a kingdom-building twist. Each turn you will connect a new tile to your existing kingdom, making sure that at least one of its sides connects to a matching terrain type already in play. The game mechanics for obtaining the tiles is clever: the order of who picks first depends on which tile was previously chosen. Make sure to secure tiles with crowns - these royal treasures help to multiply the worth of your kingdom at the end of the game!
Skip the dinner reservations and make your date-night a game-night to remember.
