Unveiling the Secrets: Hosting a Thrilling Murder Mystery Party

Delve into the world of suspense, mystery, and intrigue by hosting your very own Murder Mystery Party using the captivating "Bullets and Brie" game. With its unique storyline and intriguing characters, this game is perfect for a gathering of 10-12 friends who are ready to immerse themselves in an evening of suspenseful fun. In this blog, we'll guide you through the steps to ensure your Murder Mystery Party is a smashing success.

Prepare Invitations & Characters

Start by sending out invitations to your guests well in advance. Each guest will be assigned a character role, so make sure they receive their character information along with the invitation. Encourage them to come dressed as their character for added excitement. Invitations can be sent out digitally or physically and character information should be drawn at random. These parties are recommended for ages 16+, and "Bullets and Brie" is for 18+.

*Important to note: Not all characters are suspects. There are some Murder Mystery Party games that include additional, non-suspect characters. These characters do not always have speaking lines and should only be used when needed. If the game you are looking to use has a character/player range (i.e., 10-12) that typically means there are two (2) non-suspect characters available. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team for additional information.*

Setting the Scene

Create an immersive atmosphere by setting the stage for the murder mystery. Choose a venue that complements the theme, whether it's a sophisticated dinner party setting or a more casual gathering. Decorate the space with props and clues to enhance the overall experience. Don’t be afraid to step out of the typical confines of a room and host your gathering outside!

Read the Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the game's instructions and storyline beforehand. This will help you guide the participants throughout the evening and ensure a smooth flow of the game. The instructions do not give away the murderer and the host will not know the murderer. The murderer will only be revealed during the game and will only be made known to the murderer.

Provide Character Backgrounds

Before the party begins, give each guest a brief overview of their character's background, relationships, and objectives. Maybe enjoy a few appetizers and/or cocktails in character to help everyone help them slip into their roles seamlessly and contribute to the unfolding drama.

Dress the Part

Encourage guests to go all out with their costumes. The more authentic the attire, the more immersive the experience. You can even award prizes for the best-dressed character or the most convincing performance.

Set the Timeline

"Bullets and Brie" (and like other Murder Mystery Parties) typically unfolds in multiple rounds, with each round revealing more clues and unraveling the mystery. Ensure that you follow the game's timeline and guide the participants through each stage. Some games may include a video or audio recording to play before each round. Make sure you have all of the digital files ready before you let the fun begin.

Serve Themed Food & Drinks

Enhance the ambiance by serving food and drinks that align with the theme of the murder mystery. Create a menu inspired by the characters and ask participants to bring a dish that represents their character. Or, consider incorporating elements mentioned in the game – like brie! Make sure to think about how the game will be played out. Will you start with appetizers before diving into the murder mystery? Will you want to have finger food available throughout? Or maybe you want a full-course menu to keep the hunt for the killer engaging and filling.

Encourage Interaction

The success of a Murder Mystery Party lies in the interaction between characters. Encourage guests to engage in conversations, form alliances, and investigate one another. Provide opportunities for characters to share information and uncover the truth. It may be helpful to take breaks in between rounds to allow for snack breaks and cocktail refreshes so that the fun can continue a little longer.

Reveal the Solution

As the night progresses, guide the participants towards solving the mystery. Ensure that the clues are unraveled in a logical sequence, leading to the dramatic reveal of the murderer and letting the cat out of the bag!

Capture Memories

Document the evening with photos and videos to immortalize the fun and excitement. Share these memories with your guests afterward, creating a lasting memento of your Murder Mystery Party.

Hosting a Murder Mystery Party with "Bullets and Brie" is a fantastic way to bring friends together for an evening of suspense, laughter, and thrilling revelations. With careful planning and attention to detail, you can create an unforgettable experience that will leave everyone talking long after the final clues are unveiled. So, put on your detective hat, gather your friends, and get ready for a night of mystery and intrigue!
